Welcome to Sparrow's Hideaway
Bring your family up to the beautiful waters of Sparrow Lake and enjoy this wonderful 850 sq. ft., one level, 3 bedroom cottage with all the comforts of home wrapped up in a cozy and affordable package!
The interior of the cottage is warm and inviting with rich wood walls and vaulted wood ceilings throughout. An abundance of large picture windows in the living room and dining room provide tranquil views out to the lake and all the rooms are tastefully decorated with comfortable beds and furnishings.
Start your mornings off, cup of coffee in hand, on the deck or dock and watch the mist rise off the lake as another glorious day in cottage country begins.
The property and lakefront are ideal for young and old alike as the large lawn from the cottage down to the lake is relatively flat and the water is shallow for quite a distance out. With a kayak and paddleboat at your disposal be sure to get out on the water to explore the lake and keep your eye out for the large families of Canadian geese that frequent this area on the lake.
Sparrow's Hideaway is located in Port Stanton on the historic Trent-Severn Waterway. Founded by Captain Thomas Stanton, who helped convince the Canadian Northern Ontario Railway to diverge over 1/2 a mile north to better serve the tourist community. For decades the railway brought tourists from Toronto to vacation, and supplies to help the community through the winter, truly helping Port Stanton flourish. Although trains no longer stop in Port Stanton, the community still recognizes the Stanton family as a great help in developing the contemporary cottage culture. Descendants of Captain Thomas Stanton still live and visit Sparrow Lake today.
The cottage is just a five minute to Bayview Wildwood Resort, which features a full-service restaurant for those who may like to dine out and a small convenience store serves up Kawartha Dairy ice cream for dessert.
A five minute drive takes you to Lake St George Golf Course featuring 27 holes that will test your skill and a 15 minute drive takes you to Orillia, which offers pretty much anything you may need. If an evening of entertainment is more your speed. Casino Rama is just a 20 minute drive away.
However you spend your days, be sure to head back to the cottage for a BBQ dinner and making smores around the fireplace while watching the sunset!
PLEASE NOTE: There is an active railway track adjacent to the cottage (refer to last photo in listing).
For additional accommodations for families looking to vacation together in the same area: This cottage is located beside 'Sparrows Nest Cottage' (separated by cedar hedges).
